The Curators - Brisbane Theatre - Michael BehMichael Beh

Michael Beh has worked as a theatre director, drama educator, scholar, designer, writer and producer throughout his career focusing on nurturing the development of emerging theatre artists. He has produced and directed over 50 theatre productions at professional, independent, university and youth theatre levels. In 2017 he was the Brecht Consultant on Queensland Theatre’s production of Once in Royal David’s City and before that Artistic Director and Founder of heartBeast – Vicious Theatre Ensemble.

Michael studied in the world leading Drama Department at Carnegie Mellon University (USA), where he was a Fulbright Fellow in the MFA Graduate Directing Program. During this time he trained with the Moscow Arts Theatre School. He holds a First Class Honours Degree in Drama from University of Queensland as well as undertaking doctoral studies in directing and a post graduate qualification in drama teaching (QUT).

The Curators - Brisbane Theatre - Warwick ComberWarwick Comber

Warwick graduated NIDA in 1973 and has worked as an actor in all aspects of theatre, film and television. His major credits on stage were performances with The Queensland Theatre Company in King Lear, The Rivals, Godspell, Peter Pan and Aladdin. With The Melbourne Theatre Company: The Club, Macbeth, Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and The Alchemist. For The Old Tote Theatre (now STC): The Wolf, Abelard and Heloise and Equus. Other notable productions over the years included Piaf and Canterbury Tales for J.C. Williamsons, Irma la Douce, The Play’s the Thing, The Bacchae, Bedroom Farce, Flowers, The Dream and as C.S. Lewis in Shadowlands at The Powerhouse, Brisbane.  As Associate Artist for heartBeast Theatre, he appeared in CloudCUCKOOland, Vivienne Leigh’s School for Scandal and Away and was an advisor on Beauty is Difficult.

Television credits include: Bellbird, Company Men, All the Rivers Run, Skyways, Prisoner, Neighbours, Skirts, Blue Heelers, Flipper, Beast Master and Lost World.

Major film: Double Deal, Duet For Four (with Diane Cilento), Dead Men Tell No Tales and Thor.

Warwick has taught acting for the stage, film and television for nearly twenty years and has a post-grad Diploma of Education. He has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and works in primary, secondary and special education areas for the Department of Education, Queensland.

Patrick Shearer

Patrick has been acting professionally for the screen and stage since 2016. He is currently rehearsing the short film The Wolf, and has most recently performed in the smash, independent theatre hit: Cluedo! The Interactive Game. In 2016 he appeared in Fighting Mr. Right for the Short + Sweet Festival and The Angel Intrudes, in which he won Best Actor in the 10 minute category at the Brisbane Arts Theatre Drama Festival.

His recent screen works include Don’t Boo Me, I’m Right, A Girl Called Lola and Between a C*ck and a Hard Place. Other film credits include Big T Music, The Light, Dying to Leave, Escalando de la Piscina, One of Us Cannot Be Wrong, Share House Rules, The Devil & The Dragonfly and Drunken Inspiration.

Patrick graduated from The Performing Arts Conservatory in 2017 with an Advanced Diploma in Acting for the Screen and Stage. During that time he performed in  Romeo and Juliet and Eric Bogosian’s SubUrbia. He was a radio host for 4zzz 102.1FM and continues to do voice-over and podcasting productions.

We welcome Patrick to The Curators team as one of our 2018 Emerging Artists.

During his time he will be mentored by experienced company member, Warwick Comber.

Reanne DuffyReanne Duffy

Reanne Duffy is a Queensland based Actor and Performance Maker. Since completing her Advanced Diploma of Acting at Southbank Institute of Technology in 2014, her work has included Metro Arts Short Fuse Residency, Jar’d, 2015; Festival of Australian Student Theatre, Office Ambience, 2015; MELT Queer arts Festival Presented at Brisbane Powerhouse, One Woman Woyzeck as the solo performer, 2016; Anywhere Theatre Festival, The Maids performing as Solange, 2017; Short + Sweet Festival, Heaven Help You Now, 2017; Anywhere Theatre Festival, Terra-fied! performing as the Engineer, 2018; Starlight Foundation, Terra-fied! performing as the Engineer, 2018; and Crow’s Nest Arts Council, Women in White performing as Nirmah, 2018. Her work also includes a TVC for the iPhone X First Dance playing member of feature couple. She also works regularly as stage manager operator and technician through the Brisbane professional and independent theatre scene.

Lisa Hickey has worked extensively in Theatre in Brisbane, appearing in many La Boite productions including The Enemy Within, The Perfectionist, No Exit, The Threepenny Opera, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Plastik, Angry Housewives, The Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, The Maids, Popular Front and War Women. She also worked in Toadshow’s Conway Christ and The Hound of Music; Acronym’s King Lear, The Visit and Teechers; Fractal’s Female Parts and The Yellow Wallpaper; David Fenton’s Venus and Adonis.   Additionally, she has worked on numerous children’s theatre projects, for QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival and Brisbane Arts Theatre children’s theatre projects.

After moving to Melbourne in the early ‘90s, Lisa focused on film and television work including roles in Blue Heelers, Australia’s Most Wanted, Neighbours, Backburner, Stingers, numerous educational videos and ABC Radio Drama. She was an announcer with Brisbane’s 4ZZZ and Melbourne’s 3PBS for over 20 years.

Most recently, she has appeared in Fractal’s The Untouchable Julie and That Theatre Company’s When the Rain Stops Falling.


The Curators - Brisbane Theatre - Renaud JadinRenaud Jadin

Renaud has forged a career as a freelance actor in film, television and theatre.  In the early 90’s Renaud first took the stage at the Cement Box Theatre at Queensland University, going on to perform Moliere to Kurt Vonnegut and many original works, from university drama to independent, fringe theatre. He trained in the BFA Acting program at Victorian College of the Arts.

Amanda has developed a career as a professional actor, voice over artist and presenter.   She trained at Southbank Institute of Technology in their acclaimed acting program.  She has further participated in workshops with NIDA, Margi Brown Ash, Steven Mitchell Wright, Andrea Moor amongst many others.

Jan Nary cut her acting teeth in Sydney’s New Theatre forty years ago and has worked enthusiastically in independent and community theatre ever since, acting, writing and directing, principally with MATES Theatre Genesis, RPAC DramaFest and The Magdalenes. Microphones attract her irresistibly.  Her ten years as CHOICE magazine’s media face and voice was followed by an on-air stint with ABC radio and she currently presents folk music programs on community radio, while working as a publicist and freelance journalist.

David has been acting, directing and writing for theatre and film over the last twenty years. He is the current Artistic Director of heartBeast Theatre where he co-directed and played the titular role in Hamlet and recently directed Antigone.  David’s extensive training includes work with Redlands School of Performing Arts, Queensland Theatre Company Youth Theatre, La Boite Theatre Company and Oz Frank Theatre Company.

Brent has performed with many companies in greater Brisbane, developing his skills on stage and through numerous masterclass programs.

Sherri has worked widely on stage and screen.  Her theatre credits for heartBeast Theatre include: Oberon, Beauty is Difficult, Vivien Leigh’s School for Scandal and Away; The Brisbane Festival: Twelfth Night, Calling It Quits, The Carbon Footprint Cabaret, Mania; The Shakespeare Festival: Romeo & Juliet; and The Lives & Deaths of Evie Sharman for Cross Road Arts/Queensland Theatre Company.

Sherri holds a Bachelor Creative Arts (Theatre), Adv Dip Screen & Stage Acting, Adv Dip Screen & Media.  She is a Combat Instructor and holds a wide variety of RAD dance certification.

Fight training for film & theatre productions includes: Project Eden Vol.1, Miss Saigon, Antigone, Hamlet, Six Characters in Search of an Author, King Lear, Lotus 8 and How to Matter.
